Care and service at Renown is being transformed through our partnership with Switch, one of the world’s leading technology companies and developer of the highest-rated, most advanced data centers in the world.
Renown Health is one of the first northern Nevada companies to house its information technology (IT) infrastructure within the Switch TAHOE RENO data center campus in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center (TRIC). The 2,000 acre campus — designed for up to 7.2 million square feet of data center space and up to 650 megawatts (MW) of power — will power the IT infrastructure for some of the largest and most innovative companies around the world. All of Switch’s data centers are powered by 100 percent renewable energy, sharing Renown’s commitment to sustainability.
The northern Nevada campus is directly connected to Switch’s Core data center campus in southern Nevada using direct fiber connections called the Switch SUPERLOOP, enabling Renown to seamlessly and securely transition services between the two sites for continuous operations within the largest technology ecosystem in the world.
By working with Switch, Renown has moved to a data storage method that encompasses the safest, fastest, most advanced technology ecosystem that is also environmentally friendly. This evolutionary change will ensure we can use the latest technology for our many patient data applications, which will be faster, more efficient and reliable, and more secure.
