For more than 30 years, Renown Institute for Heart & Vascular Health has led the region in heart and vascular treatment. We understand the importance of an individualized approach to heart care. Additionally, when it comes to a heart attack, we know time is of the essence for all patients.
The less time between diagnosis and treatment, the more heart muscle saved, and the better the outcome. Our specialists research, train and work to implement the quickest heart-saving treatments possible. And the results speak for themselves — our record-setting arrival-to-treatment times are among the best in the nation.
The American Heart Association (AHA) recognized these efforts. We are the only hospital in the region to receive AHA’s Mission Lifeline Gold Plus Receiving award for heart attack. This means 96.8 percent of our patients have a door-to-balloon treatment time of 90 minutes or less.
Clinical trials and research are an opportunity for patients to receive promising new drugs, drug combinations, advances in personalized care and new treatment approaches. At Renown, there are currently a dozen heart and vascular disease clinical trials and there will be up to 20 by 2017.
We keep the heart of this region beating. With 20 cardiologists and an expert care team, complex heart conditions are accurately diagnosed and treated. After three decades, the Institute remains at the forefront of cardiology because we continually research, innovate and develop the most up-to-date heart and vascular technologies and programs.
We are the first and only hospital in the region and one of a select group of hospitals across the country to offer a promising new procedure called transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). With this groundbreaking technology we can place a new aortic valve in the heart by inserting a catheter through an incision in the leg — no open-heart surgery required.
Renown is the first and only provider in the region to offer at-home heart failure monitoring. The FDA-approved CardioMEMs HF System allows our heart care team to monitor patients remotely and be alerted of any change in condition, significantly reducing hospital admissions and improving patients’ quality of life.
A pioneer in heart care, Renown was the 12th health system in the U.S. and the first in the West to implement the Pritikin ICR (Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation) program. This leading-edge method provides education on exercise, nutrition and stress management to improve heart health and encourage a heart-healthy lifestyle among patients.
