Expanding Care

Bringing Care Closer to You

More Providers and Locations Mean Faster, More Convenient Care

At Renown Health, our mission is to make a genuine difference in the health and well-being of the people and communities we serve. As the population continues to grow and communities expand, recruiting providers to meet our local healthcare needs is a top priority.

With more than 300 total providers, 20 primary care offices and 9 urgent care locations, we’re growing with our communities so residents throughout the region have access to quality healthcare from highly skilled Renown providers when and where they need it.

Making an appointment with a Renown provider has never been more convenient.

Connecting Rural Communities to Healthcare

Since opening on June 1, 2016, we see more than 100 patients per month at the Renown Medical Group — Tonopah location.

Renown Health has worked with the Nye County Commission to help bring healthcare back to Tonopah. Using telehealth technology, patients can meet with a healthcare provider as well as providers in more than 30 specialties through secure videoconferencing.

Renown Institute for Neurosciences is a part of the rural network of 30 hospitals giving quick treatment to rural stroke patients and others needing specialty neurological care for complex conditions.

Explore all the ways TeleHealth is making healthcare available to patients near and far.

Neurological Treatment and an Expert Team Are Right Here in Our Community

As northern Nevada’s first dedicated stroke unit, we received the Get With The Guidelines — Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll award. Additionally, the Institute has the area’s only pediatric epileptologist — a doctor who treats children with epilepsy — and is a Level III Epilepsy Center, accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers.

International Collaboration = Statewide Benefits

As our communities grow, Renown grows and expands right along with them to ensure we have the resources to meet the healthcare needs of residents throughout the state. That’s why we are committed to training more healthcare providers and encouraging them to stay in Nevada.

We work with the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and St. George’s University in Grenada (SGU) School of Medicine as a key part of this initiative. This year we started clinical rotations with third- and fourth-year students from SGU and expanded residency programs with UNR Med. We’re working to launch the area’s first Master of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Program. Currently, the closest PA program is in Sacramento, Calif.

A Regional Heart Care Leader

We Mend Broken Hearts and Save Lives Every Day — and We’re Fast

For more than 30 years, Renown Institute for Heart & Vascular Health has led the region in heart and vascular treatment. We understand the importance of an individualized approach to heart care. Additionally, when it comes to a heart attack, we know time is of the essence for all patients.

The less time between diagnosis and treatment, the more heart muscle saved, and the better the outcome. Our specialists research, train and work to implement the quickest heart-saving treatments possible. And the results speak for themselves — our record-setting arrival-to-treatment times are among the best in the nation.

The American Heart Association (AHA) recognized these efforts. Renown Regional was awarded The Get with the Guidelines – Heart Failure Gold Achievement for continually treating heart patients using the highest standards of care. We are the only hospital in the region to receive AHA’s Mission Lifeline Gold Plus Receiving award for heart attack. This means 96.8 percent of our patients have a door-to-balloon treatment time of 90 minutes or less.

Clinical trials and research are an opportunity for patients to receive promising new drugs, drug combinations, advances in personalized care and new treatment approaches.

From prevention of heart disease to cardiac rehabilitation, our team of heart specialists is here to help you be your heart’s best friend.

Our Expert Heart Care Team — The Heart of Our Program

We keep the heart of this region beating. With skilled cardiologists and an expert care team, complex heart conditions are accurately diagnosed and treated. After three decades, the Institute remains at the forefront of cardiology because we continually research, innovate and develop the most up-to-date heart and vascular technologies and programs.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement

We are the first hospital in the region and one of a select group of hospitals across the country to offer a promising new procedure called transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). With this groundbreaking technology we can place a new aortic valve in the heart by inserting a catheter through an incision in the leg — no open-heart surgery required.

CardioMEMS™

Renown is the first and only provider in the region to offer at-home heart failure monitoring. The FDA-approved CardioMEMs HF System allows our heart care team to monitor patients remotely and be alerted of any change in condition, significantly reducing hospital admissions and improving patients’ quality of life.

Pritikin Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation

A pioneer in heart care, Renown was the 12th health system in the U.S. and the first in the West to implement the Pritikin ICR (Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation) program. This leading-edge method provides education on exercise, nutrition and stress management to improve heart health and encourage a heart-healthy lifestyle among patients.

Help us bring more innovative programs like these to patients in our community.

Caring for Patients Beyond the Hospital Walls

Renown Transitional Care encompasses a range of services that provide healthcare to individuals from the hospital throughout recovery. We aim to ensure patients receive the quality of care they need in the most appropriate location possible, whether it be in one of our locations or at home.

Renown Rehabilitation Hospital is the region’s largest and only certified hospital by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. We provide inpatient care for those recovering from stroke, trauma, bone and muscle injuries (orthopedic), brain injuries, brain and spinal cord (neurological) disorders and other major physical conditions.

Renown Home Health is Medicare-certified and offers coordinated, comprehensive services by registered nurses, wound and diabetic care, physical, occupational and speech therapists, dietitians and social workers. Our goal is to help patients achieve independence while improving health and well-being in the comfort of their home.

Renown Hospice Care is provided when medical treatments no longer offer a cure. A team of chaplains, volunteers, social workers and nurses coordinate to help families discuss end-of-life considerations. We provide hospice care in the comfort of patients’ own home or current living situation.

Renown Physical Therapy & Rehab treats conditions with hands-on, individualized care in many Reno/Sparks locations through physical, occupational and speech therapy. We specialize in treating a variety of injuries and issues, including sports and orthopedic injuries, balance and vertigo issues, stroke, hand coordination, spinal cord and brain injuries and pelvic health.

Renown Advanced Wound Care experts provide wound healing, ostomy care and lymphedema (fluid retention/tissue swelling) therapy caused by diabetes, vascular diseases, radiation therapy, trauma, burns and pressure ulcers. Our hyperbaric oxygen therapy treats a range of conditions, including serious infections, bubbles of air in blood vessels and wounds that won’t heal as a result of diabetes or radiation injury.

Renown Palliative Care’s medical team of specialized clinicians intervenes with patients who have chronic or serious illnesses and diseases. This team works with patients and their families to create an advanced care plan to help address symptoms related to their diagnosis.

Monaco Ridge Assisted Living is located at the Renown South Meadows Medical Center campus. Monaco Ridge is comprised of 40 individual living suites. Our focus is on maintaining patients’ independence while providing enriching activities and nourishing meals. We also assist with medications, daily living activities and medical appointments.
