At Renown Health, our mission is to make a genuine difference in the health and well-being of the people and communities we serve. As the population continues to grow and communities expand, recruiting providers to meet our local healthcare needs is a top priority.
With more than 300 total providers, 20 primary care offices and 9 urgent care locations, we’re growing with our communities so residents throughout the region have access to quality healthcare from highly skilled Renown providers when and where they need it.
Since opening on June 1, 2016, we see more than 100 patients per month at the Renown Medical Group — Tonopah location.
Renown Health has worked with the Nye County Commission to help bring healthcare back to Tonopah. Using telehealth technology, patients can meet with a healthcare provider as well as providers in more than 30 specialties through secure videoconferencing.
Renown Institute for Neurosciences is a part of the rural network of 30 hospitals giving quick treatment to rural stroke patients and others needing specialty neurological care for complex conditions.
As northern Nevada’s first dedicated stroke unit, we received the Get With The Guidelines — Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll award. Additionally, the Institute has the area’s only pediatric epileptologist — a doctor who treats children with epilepsy — and is a Level III Epilepsy Center, accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers.
As our communities grow, Renown grows and expands right along with them to ensure we have the resources to meet the healthcare needs of residents throughout the state. That’s why we are committed to training more healthcare providers and encouraging them to stay in Nevada.
We work with the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and St. George’s University in Grenada (SGU) School of Medicine as a key part of this initiative. This year we started clinical rotations with third- and fourth-year students from SGU and expanded residency programs with UNR Med. We’re working to launch the area’s first Master of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Program. Currently, the closest PA program is in Sacramento, Calif.
For more than 30 years, Renown Institute for Heart & Vascular Health has led the region in heart and vascular treatment. We understand the importance of an individualized approach to heart care. Additionally, when it comes to a heart attack, we know time is of the essence for all patients.
The less time between diagnosis and treatment, the more heart muscle saved, and the better the outcome. Our specialists research, train and work to implement the quickest heart-saving treatments possible. And the results speak for themselves — our record-setting arrival-to-treatment times are among the best in the nation.
The American Heart Association (AHA) recognized these efforts. Renown Regional was awarded The Get with the Guidelines – Heart Failure Gold Achievement for continually treating heart patients using the highest standards of care. We are the only hospital in the region to receive AHA’s Mission Lifeline Gold Plus Receiving award for heart attack. This means 96.8 percent of our patients have a door-to-balloon treatment time of 90 minutes or less.
Clinical trials and research are an opportunity for patients to receive promising new drugs, drug combinations, advances in personalized care and new treatment approaches.
We keep the heart of this region beating. With skilled cardiologists and an expert care team, complex heart conditions are accurately diagnosed and treated. After three decades, the Institute remains at the forefront of cardiology because we continually research, innovate and develop the most up-to-date heart and vascular technologies and programs.
We are the first hospital in the region and one of a select group of hospitals across the country to offer a promising new procedure called transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). With this groundbreaking technology we can place a new aortic valve in the heart by inserting a catheter through an incision in the leg — no open-heart surgery required.
Renown is the first and only provider in the region to offer at-home heart failure monitoring. The FDA-approved CardioMEMs HF System allows our heart care team to monitor patients remotely and be alerted of any change in condition, significantly reducing hospital admissions and improving patients’ quality of life.
A pioneer in heart care, Renown was the 12th health system in the U.S. and the first in the West to implement the Pritikin ICR (Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation) program. This leading-edge method provides education on exercise, nutrition and stress management to improve heart health and encourage a heart-healthy lifestyle among patients.
